Health Promotion & Disease Prevention

The Health Department conducts communicable disease surveillance, investigation and control. The Public Health Nurses enforce all applicable health laws and regulations for diseases that are designated as dangerous to the public health by the The Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Public Health Nurse Services for Westfield residents include: immunizations for residents who qualify including seasonal flu vaccines. Tuberculosis screening is usually performed weekly by appointment for $20.00 (cash or check). Please call for details. The department nurses are available to assist residents and health care providers with questions and concerns regarding public health issues, disease prevention, health promotion, and emergency preparedness. The Health Department implements programs to promote community wellness which include tobacco control, radon screening, and The Westfield Childhood Wellness Program.
