Recently, many City residents received a letter from Comstar about a potential breach of personal information. Information was provided to Comstar Ambulance Billing Service for medical services rendered. Confusion about the extent of the possible breach and the best course of action to rectify the situation has ensued. Milagros Johnson, Director of the Mayor's Office of Consumer Information, appeared on Westfield's WCPC weekly Wake Up Wednesday show, hosted by Tina Gorman, to explain both the Comstar breach and how a person's credit can be protected from identity theft. The greater Springfield area Mayor's Office of Consumer Information is funded by and works in cooperation with the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office.
