Inspectors and technicians conducting inspections, maintenance, repair services and installing fire protection and life safety systems are required to utilize this new third-party reporting system for properties within the City of Westfield. The Compliance Engine/Brycer can provide complimentary assistance with the registration process and training for their website on how to submit.
Responsible parties are defined as:
- Property Owners, or
- Individuals or companies delegated in writing by the property owner to be responsible for the upkeep of a fire protection or life safety systems.
This program will not impact a building owner's ability to select a qualified contractor, as required by the Massachusetts Fire Prevention Code. Property owners will be able to establish their own account with The Compliance Engine to access reports and monitor the systems inspected for their property with no cost. This feature will not be available until after July 15, 2025.
Report Fees
The fee for the submittal of a report is $20 per report. This fee is charged through the website to an individual or company submitting the report. The City of Westfield does not receive any of the money collected for this reporting system. The fees belong to the website system operator for maintenance and upkeep of their website conducting the submittal process.
Portable fire extinguishers have a different fee schedule. The fee schedule for portable fire extinguishers is as follows:
- 1 to 5 Extinguishers = $15
- 6+ Extinguishers = $20
Late fees
Late fees for the submittal reports will be added to the report fee cost depending on the length of time of receipt after the inspection date. Specifically, reports submitted after 30 days from the inspection date will incur a $10 late fee. Reports submitted after 60 days from the inspection date will incur a $20 late fee.
Correction Reports
In the case of deficiencies reported on an inspection report, additional fees will not be charged to upload the correction reports when submitted under the original inspection submittal.
