Crime Free Multi Housing Group

The Westfield Crime Free Multi Housing Group was created over fifteen years ago through the efforts of then Sgt. Steve Dickinson of the Westfield Police Department.  Although the program used to meet every month at Shaker Farms Country Club, this program has been temporarily suspended due to Covid.  The mission of this group is to update and educate local landlords and property managers on issues pertinent to owning, renting and managing residential properties.

Each month, information is shared with landlords from several different speakers. The Westfield Police Department shares information on recent crime problems and other local issues. Attorney Stanley Komack, whose practice concentrates in Real Estate and Landlord/Tenant matters, educates members of the group on recent court decisions which may affect the way you run your business.  Eric Dembinske and/or John P. Weiss, of Ormsby Insurance Agency, Inc., are available at meetings to answer your insurance related questions.  In addition, each month Attorney Komack arranges for a guest speaker to address the group on a relevant subject.  Speakers have included members of HAP Housing, building and health inspectors, fire inspectors, code enforcement, judges from Housing Court, sheriffs, legal experts and many others.

The format of the monthly meetings is normally the same each month.  From 6:00 to 6:30 pm, is a social half hour.  From 6:30 to 7:00 pm, is an optional RSVP buffet dinner for a fee of $19.00 per person.  At 7:00 pm, the informational portion of the program begins.  Although we encourage you to take part in the social half hour and/or dinner to meet and learn from our speakers and other property owners in an informal atmosphere, attendees are more than welcome to arrive at 7:00 pm, for the informational portion of the meetings.  Again, these meetings are free unless you would like to purchase dinner.
